Experiencing the Face of God in Miami

"DOOR gave us an experience that deepened our faith, challenged our perceptions, showed us a piece of our world that gave back to us much more than we could give to it." Church of Christ, Iowa |
"It shouldn't be called a melting pot. The city doesn't blend and melt together. A better description would be a MOSAIC. Every part of the city plays an important role in creating the big picture, without a piece of the mosaic, the picture would just not look the same." First United Methodist Church of Clearwater, Florida |

"We enjoyed hearing the stories of the people we worked with, for and alongside." Baptist, North Carolina |
"On Thursday afternoon, I went into a homeless kid’s headstart program. They were all sleeping but them 1 little girl woke up... She was beautiful. Even though she was black and homeless I still loved her. I picked her up and she laid her head on my shoulder and at that moment I knew God was in her. She was tired and He gave her someone to sleep on." Venice Presbyterian Church, Florida |

"I learned that everyone is different but they are the same in some way. I also learned everyone should be given a second chance." Venice Presbyterian Church, Florida |
"I came to Florida not knowing what to do, but when I remembered that it doesn't matter because God is always with you. I fed the homeless at the Miami Rescue Mission, and also cut up onions in the kitchen. I worked in the okra fields weeding the plants, trying not to get eaten by ants. I played with little kids and gave them my love, and of course whatever I did came from God above." Amanda Hoffmeyer, Cottonwood Heights Christian Reformed Church, Michigan |

"One thing I learned from my experience is that I am no different from everyone else in this world. We all have the same human tendencies- we want compassion, friendliness, and care. But most of all, we just want love." Michelle Beenes, Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Illinois |
"I had a great time and I am so thrilled because I brought along my best friend, who is a new Christian. He drew very near to God and it has changed his life. Now he has God as his top priority - which is great! I've been trying to tell him that God should be number one, and now he finally is. This is so amazing, now he wants to get involved with our church and actually feels welcome there after getting to know everyone over that past week." |

"We experienced homeless shelters, feeding and cooking for the homeless-getting rid of stereotyping of homeless-and other cultures. We learned that it is not about our goals but God's; not our expectations but God's. Heidi did a wonderful job. She is full of passion for her calling-full of energy-very concerned for everyone's well being." United Methodist, Alabama |
