DOOR Hollywood City Director
Discovering Opportunities for
Outreach and Reflection (DOOR) is a Christian non-profit organization
in partnership with Mennonite Mission Network and Presbyterian Church
(USA) that develops and oversees educational volunteer and internship
programs in six US cities. The aim of the various DOOR programs is to
encourage and nurture participants to explore and deepen their commitment
to urban ministry.
Accountability:
- This person will report, on a regular basis, to the National Program Director and be accountable to the local DOOR Board
Mutual Responsibility:
- To the network, including all cities, attending all staff meetings and working together on common network wide projects and goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of local program & budget
- Oversight of…
- Weekend and weeklong programs (Discover),
- Semester, inter-term program and support staff (Discern),
- Yearlong internship programs (Dwell)
- Supervision of local staff
- Maintain and develop relationships with local churches and agencies.
- Maintain and develop relationships with partner denominations at the local level. This includes protocols as established by the National Program
- Fundraising at the local level, this includes:
- Grant research and writing
- Meeting with potential funders
- Yearly promotional events (i.e. banquet)
- Occasional recruitment & promotional travel for both national and local program
- Networking with local churches and helping agencies
This position requires:
- A mature commitment to Jesus Christ.
- An appreciation of the Mennonite and Presbyterian heritage.
- College Graduate or equivalent experience
- Experience and interest in Christian service, urban ministry and justice issues.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and respect for people of many backgrounds and beliefs.
- A commitment to anti-racism.
- Ability to relate well to youth and sponsors and facilitate group processing of experiences.
- Honesty and openness in communicating issues.
- Experience as a team player with responsibility and maturity in peer relationships and in carrying work assignments.
- Ability to adjust to a varied and demanding work schedule.
- A valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to function well in city traffic.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary will be commensurate with experience
- Health Insurance, including coverage of spouse and dependant children will begin on the first day of employment
- A retirement plan equaling 10% of salary will begin on January 1
